Job Description
Serials Solutions Product Marketing Manager – Summon Team

Responsibilities: 1. Work with business directors, product management, development, sales, to create unique positioning and value propositions for the product; working internally where applicable to avoid market confusion regarding potential product overlap.

2. Analyze and define the product marketing plans including objectives, strategies, and tactics, include short and long term strategies.

3. Manage tactical marketing activities to ensure successful execution on strategy and to meet overall market and sales objectives for the product.

4. Apply innovative and creative strategies for generating network effect in gaining market awareness of the product including for example conference presentations, customer workshops, Facebook groups, open source software community development, etc.

5. Coordinate marketing communications plans and activities with the appropriate staff, including tradeshows, newsletters, website, lists management, collateral, etc.

6. Maintain an ongoing dialog with the marketplace, cultivating prospects, increasing overall market awareness/presence, fostering support from industry thought leaders, etc.

7. Liaise with international marketing and sales managers to understand and maintain regional collateral requirements.

8. Prepare and facilitate sales training for the product; conduct quarterly meetings with customer facing staff to identify key needs (e.g. sales tools); and provide content to sales tools (competitive positioning, presentations, product fact sheets, case studies, white papers, reprints of industry articles, etc.).

9. Maintain market and customer intelligence and make available to the sales teams and management for strategic and tactical planning purposes.

10. Ensure that all internal stakeholders are kept up to date on product developments and that the appropriate elements of the intranet are current, compelling and accurate

Additional Salary Information: competitive based on experience

Requirements

Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years experience in marketing especially related to software or internet products/services (previous library market experience a plus)
• BA/BS in Marketing, MBA/MLIS preferred
• Ability to clearly and effectively articulate and communicate product specifics to the market, as well as report market requirements back to development organizations
• Demonstrated success in continuous support of a distributed sales team through definition and creation of positioning materials and training
• Must be willing to travel minimally (10 percent)
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong project management skills
• Experience with internet applications and software products and services highly preferred.
